As our partnership with UFC in Brazil entered it’s second year, we knew we had to keep adding elite names to our list of brand ambassadors, so it was with great pleasure we announced Brazilian welterweight Gilbert Burns has joined our roster. Gilbert has had a career packed with highlights and started off 2023 with an incredible submission of Neil Magny at UFC 283 right on the Stake logo on the canvas; it was truly a partnership that was meant to be.
Submission Artist
Hailing from Rio de Janeiro, ‘Durinho’ entered the UFC in 2014 and has built a reputation as one of the best submission artists across all divisions of the organisation. His UFC career has seen him fight in five countries against some of the biggest names in the sport, including Gunnar Nelson, Tyron Woodley, and Kamaru Usman. His victory over Magny in January 2023 led to a callout of another legendary name Jorge Masvidal, he got his wish at UFC 287 in Miami and overcame the home favourite in a convincing manner. Gilbert is now back in title contention.
An Entertainer
Put simply, Gilbert Burns is an entertainer, he has picked up four Performance of the Night bonuses and 17 of his 27 professional fights have resulted in an early finish. We can’t wait for the fireworks he’ll deliver for the Stake brand in what promises to be an explosive match-up.
